(CNN) — Two big-time northeastern Republicans who are openly contemplating presidential bids are headed to the all-important early caucus state of Iowa next month for a gathering of conservative activists.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and real-estate mogul Donald Trump were both added to the lineup for the Iowa Freedom Summit, a confab of conservative activists hosted by Citizens United and Rep. Steve King.
Both have made no secret of their interest in the 2016 presidential race, though Trump has contemplated a bid for decades and hasn’t yet pulled the trigger.
